Sandee Rose Katz
Personal Information
Sandee is in her fourth year as an out-of-state student from New Jersey at the University of Florida. She hopes to graduate in 2009 with her BS in Music Education and a performance certificate in French Horn. While at the University of Florida she has been involved with many different ensembles and activities. As an active member of the University of Florida Marching Band for four years she has now earned the position of mellophone section leader. Besides the Marching Band she also plays mellophone in the Basketball Band at the University of Florida. Throughout her years at the University she has played her main instrument, the horn, in the University Symphonic Band for four semesters, and the University Orchestra. Lastly, she has played percussion in the Universities concert band every spring. Sandee however, has not been playing horn her whole life. She started with piano in first grade and then added the flute in fourth grade. By her second year of high school Sandee was proficient in bass clarinet, french horn, and trumpet. She finally decided on the horn by her Junior year of High School. Sandee is also active in Sigma Alpha Iota, a professional music fraternity for women on campus. In this organization she has been treasurer and craft committee head. Professionally, Sandee has had the opportunity to teach in the local Gainesville area. She has led sectionals and taught at Howard Bishop Middle School, Lincoln Middle School, and Bucholz High School. On top of this she also teaches private lessons. While in college Sandee has also worked at Michaels Arts and Crafts Stores as a Custom Framer. Lastly, Sandee has her own business on campus. She crochets custom made scarves and hats upon request.
