Welcome to
the University of Florida Music Education Online Portfolio Website All University of Florida music education majors
must complete a web-based music teaching portfolio as an exit requirement for
graduation. In their portfolios, students present evidence of their teaching
knowledge, skills, and dispositions in the form of illustrations of the
twelve Florida Accomplished Practices for Teachers.
This evidence takes many forms – lesson/rehearsal plans, narratives,
reflections, photos, audio and video clips, and more. The portfolios are developed over time. As
students complete MUE 3311 - Music in Elementary Schools, MUE 3330 - Music in
Secondary Schools, and MUE 4140/4940 – Administration and Student Teaching,
they complete specific assignments that are developed into illustrations of
the Florida Accomplished Practices. Because the music education program is an
affiliate program of the University of Florida College of Education, the
project is fully aligned with the College of Education’s Educator Assessment
System. In addition to providing students an opportunity to create and
organize a professional online presence and meaningfully reflect on their
work as pre-service teachers, the illustrations provided in the student
portfolios serve as evidence of our program's compliance with National
Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and Florida Department of Education
standards for teacher preparation. Visitors are welcome to view the student
portfolios – follow the link provided on the left of this page. Students will
find portfolio templates, the manual, links to help files, and other useful
information for portfolio development. Thank you for visiting our site and for
your interest in music teacher preparation at the University of Florida. |
