Teaching Philosophy

My teaching goals are to enrich students’ lives with a quality musical experience that will also develop strong life skills.  Not only will students be developing their musicianship and professionalism, but they will also be learning how to become productive members of society.  Through being in the band program, students will learn about time management, respect, and teamwork

Music plays a vital role in the academic curriculum, while music may not be one of the core subjects in school, it is essential because it is one of the few classes that teaches students to work together as a group or community.  Each outcome of a performance is dependent on the group as a whole, and that means each individual doing what is necessary for the group to succeed.

The national and state standards will be used as a strong guideline to the classroom curriculum.  Each day, multiple national and state standards will be met in every class.  The achievement of standards will be the result of thorough lesson planning and a well rounded classroom curriculum.
