P. K. Yonge Evaluations
Description of Assignment
During my teachings at P. K. Yonge both students and my teacher evaluated my performance with the students. I received student evaluations forms from my peers with constructive comments on my teaching and whether I had met the accomplished practices. I also received comments from Mr. Roberts, the P. K. Yonge teacher, and had a scheduled meeting later in the day with my teacher. In addition to all these evauluations, I had to watch the video tape of my teaching and write a reflection on my own teaching. These examples of continuous improvement accurately meet Accomplished Practice #3 by:
- Seeks feedback from students, parents, and other professionals
- Uses the results of assessment as the basis for self-improvement in teaching
- Uses the results of assessment as the basis for self-improvement in teaching
Artistic Processes/Medium
No artistic processes were used in this illustrationRationale
All of these types of evauluations are a great way for me to really get a sense of how successful my teaching went. I get so wrapped up into the whole first time teaching experience that I can not always see or hear what I need to improve on. One major improvement that I am going to change for my next teaching time is using informal language with the children. My peers as well as my videotape pointed out to me the use of terms like "You guys" that when I was teaching I had no clue.
