Type of Assignment

Theory Lesson

Description of Assignment

I taught the beginning classes a lesson on the staff and treble clef using musictheory.net for my visuals. This lesson included material on what a staff is and also talked about the names of the lines and spaces in the treble clef. I taught students the easy phrases to remember the lines and spaces in the treble clef and quizzed them on it at the end of the lesson. This assignment demonstrates the following criteria for Accomplished Practice #8:

Artistic Processes/Medium

Responding

Rationale

This illustration clearly shows that I needed prior knowledge in order to teach the students about the staff and treble clef. Without prior knowledge I would not be able to properly present the subject matter in a meaningful way to the students.
