Forest Hill High School Freshman girls
Description of Assignment
In this activity activity I was teaching the freshman girl's class a variety of activities meaning I had to effectively communicate instructions in order for them to learn the lesson. I was teaching them new rhythm values and a completely new song called "The Tallis Canon". During both these activities I not only communicated by speaking but through my conducting gestures. This fulfills the criteria in the Accomplished Practice 2 by:
- Uses correct grammar in speaking and writing
- Instructs students in a clear and understandable manner
- Communicates purpose and value of music instruction to students, parents, and other interested persons
- Communicates appropriate musical interpretation verbally and through conducting gestures
Artistic Processes/Medium
Performing: Singing and Rhythm reading
Responding: Interpreting Conducting
Rationale
I chose this illustration because it demonstrates the effective communication that went on between the students and I. This is shown with how well the students were able to process and pick up what I was trying to get across to them verbally, as well as physically through my conducting. All of this was helped by the use of correct grammar and my ability to instruct students in a clear and understandable manner. Without effective communication this lesson wouldn't of been as successful as it was.Illustration
