Description of Assignment
During my teaching at Diamond View Elementary I exemplified the role of a teacher. I worked from 8:00am to 3:30pm teaching six music classes a day. This fulfills the criteria of Accomplished Practice #11 by:
- Models appropriate behavior as teacher and musician
- Considers instruction in music as part of the larger educational effort of the school
- Uses specific directions at appropriate times
- Serves as a guide to students developing musical understandings and skills
Artistic Processes/Medium
No Artistic Medium
Rationale
During these music classes I would model behavior constantly for my students as a musician and teacher. At this young age these students need to see an appropriate model. Not only did I teach the children about music but I also included learning in other areas to show that there is so much more to music class then just singing and playing instruments. During all my teaching it was so important with teaching these younger students to use appropriate directions otherwise the students would be confused and the lesson could be unsuccessful. I was their guide to having a better understanding of music because for some of these children, this might be the only music instruction they get their entire lives.
