Type of Assignment
Eastside High School Lesson Plan
Teaching #1 of "Keep your Lamps"
Description of Assignment
Throughout all my teachings at Eastside High School I have incorporated critical and creative thinking. In every teaching I would ask students questions like "What is the dynamic marking at this measure?" and "What key signature of this song?". A more intense critical thinking question on a teaching is when I asked the students what knowledge they had about African American Spirituals. We had about a 3 minute discussion on this topic and what the text in the song was all about. These examples of creative and critical thinking accurately meet Accomplished Practice #4 in the following ways:
- Includes opportunities for critical and creative thinking in learning activities
- Involves students in making decisions about the interpretation of songs and musical works
Artistic Processes/Medium
Responding: Listening, Discussion
Rationale
These teachings included critical and creative thinking because of the questions asked throughout the lesson. It also involved the students on making decisions about the interpretation of the song and really engaged the students mind.
