Teaching Philosophy

Music is something mysterious, spiritual, intrinsic, complex yet so simple, healing, soothing, uniting and so transcendental that we could spend much time discussing its many facets. In regards to the education of music, I feel that when someone is deeply impacted by something, they should share it with others in order to enrich and edify others  lives. Such is the experience I have with music. From the moment when my first music teacher gave me a recorder in 2nd grade, to this day , I have been so impacted by music that there is no other option for me but to share what I have learned and enjoyed with others.

In the world we live today, music is one of the main ways in which society passes on its feelings, ideas and beliefs. Unfortunately its also becoming a way of influencing our generation in negative aspects. The message I would like every student to have concreted in their mind when they leave my class is that music is a language which we can use for the good of humanity. We have the to choose how to speak that language.

"Children are our future and we need to educate them correctly"

I agree completely with this quote. It may be a cliche phrase, but it is our responsibility to uphold the standards of eductaion. Therefore, my goal as a teacher is to educate all children in a manner that they learn all that there is to music so that they, in turn, can teach others or express themselves to others in a positive manner.
